After defeating the Big Bash League team Melbourne Renegades, the BCB High-Performance (HP) team started the Top End T20 Tournament on a high note. However, in their second match of the tournament, the HP team lost to Tasmania Tigers by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Akbar Ali’s team scored 166 runs for 5 wickets. In response, Tasmania achieved a 5-wicket victory with 3 balls to spare. Jack Doran turned the match around with an unbeaten 71 runs off 37 balls.
The HP team had a strong start to their batting. In the opening partnership, Zisan Alam and Tanzid Hasan scored 73 runs off 51 balls. However, only Zisan played in the T20 style, scoring 38 runs off 23 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Tanzid scored 28 runs off 29 balls before being run out. Parvez Hossain, who came in at number three, remained unbeaten with 39 runs off 29 balls. Captain Akbar scored 20 runs off 17 balls. This allowed the HP team to post a total of 166 runs.

Tasmania, initially struggling against the HP team’s spin attack, bounced back thanks to Charlie Wakim and Jack Doran. Doran caused the most damage with an explosive 71 runs off 37 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Towards the end, Raphael Macmillan remained unbeaten with 17 runs off 9 balls. HP team’s left-arm spinner Rakibul took 2 wickets for 25 runs in 3.3 overs.
